Australian radio unites to create one app that plays all stations
In a rare fit of collaboration the biggest players in the Australian radio industry have come together to launch a single app to allow people to choose from more than 250 radio stations across the country.
The RadioApp was launched this morning at the annual National Radio Conference in Melbourne, bringing together the commercial players with ABC and SBS, as they look to make listening on connected devices easier.
“Listening habits are evolving and RadioApp will ensure radio remains easily accessible no matter what platform or device our listeners choose to use,” said CRA CEO Joan Warner.

Why do this and not put ALL the local radio stations on?
This is a great example of long-term Australian competitors coming together to have a product that competes against international digital pure-plays. Hopefully it becomes a good case study for other media channels to follow.
Great development. Tim – Austereo owns and developed RadioApp – so assume they have approved this for the industry or gained all radio networks support? Or did the industry buy from Austereo?
No Triple R in Melbourne, pity
It’s not bad, I’ve used it for about 2months and works okay – only thing that is disappointing is that some channels are not yet part of it…also it shows how much the stations are centrally programmed from a music perspective as at times two thirds of the stations play the exact same songs roughly at the same time
What the code of conducts and other relevant laws to govern apps radio streaming?
Now this app has gone haywire.
All the voices sound like Mickey Mouse.
Been this way for weeks.
Contacting RadioApp has no reply …. or any sign of fixing this.
