Radio’s ad revenue decline eases

The decline in radio advertising may be slowing down, revenue figures for August released by Commercial Radio Australia appear to suggest.  

Although the market fell by 4% compared to the same month a year before, this was an improvement on the 5% decline in July.

Sydney continued to be a tough market, with revenue falling by more than 8% to $15.9m. And Perth saw an even bigger fall – of around 10% to $6.4m. Brisbane was down by 6% to $7.7m.

But Melbourne was up by nearly 2% to $15.5m and Adelaide grew by almost 3% to $4.8m.

The national metro radio market was worth just over $50m, according to the CRA figures.
