Ratings Game: Guess the ratings for State of Origin and win a Mumbrella Sports Summit pass

Every morning the news team at Mumbrella plays the ratings game – where we guess how many viewers tuned in to watch a particular show.
After a tense first game in this year’s State of Origin series proved to be a ratings blockbuster – beating all previous records for Channel 9 – we thought we’d open the challenge to our readers to guess how it Game 2 will rate, with the reader submitting the guess closest the reported figure winning a pass to Mumbrella’s Sports Marketing Summit in Sydney on July 28.
The rules are simple, the closest correct guess for the finalised, time-adjusted, average capital city audience for the telecast on Nine, wins.
To enter, just post your guess for how the show will rate in the comment thread below, but make sure you leave your correct email address so we can contact you with the prize.
The cut-off time is 8.00am on Thursday, June 23, and we’ll be announcing the winner – the guess closest to the time adjusted OzTAM metro rating for the broadcast on Channel 9 – when the results come in at around 9:15am.
If there are two correct guesses, the one submitted earliest will win the prize – a free pass to the Mumbrella Sports Marketing Summit, to be held at Royal Randwick Racecourse on July 28.
Some helpful hints:
This year’s State of Origin Game 1 managed 2.708m for Nine, a record audience for the series and well up on last year’s 2.432m viewers.
Last year’s Game 2 was watched by 2.616m, with QLD holding a 1-0 lead going into the game, as it does this year. That audience was up from the 2.563m who watched the game the year before.
Game 3 last year had 2.049m viewers for the dead rubber, as QLD had already won the series; 2.468m tuned in the year before for the decider.
OzTAM ratings don’t measure out-of-home viewing – i.e., people watching in pubs and clubs.
Check back just after 9:00am tomorrow morning when we will announce the winner. Good luck.

The results are in and the figure is 2.404m viewers. Looks like a few more people may have watched last night’s match in the pub.
Congratulations to Grace on an eerily accurate 2.406m guess. However, you didn’t leave your email address as stipulated. Please comment again here in the next 24-hours from the same IP address with your email, we won’t publish it, otherwise we’ll move onto the next best guess.
Thanks for playing everyone.

NSW didn’t win the series last year.
