Rdio confirms closure from December 23

Music streaming service Rdio has confirmed it will close from December 23 in Australia after the company was bought by rival Pandora last month.

In a notice to members globally the music service wrote: “As we announced last month, Rdio is being acquired. As part of the acquisition, the Rdioservice will be shutting down worldwide on December 22, 2015 at approximately 5pm PST.”

The music streaming service noted that users could log into the website to download an archive of their music collection.

After rival Pandora bought the company globally it insisted the company seek bankruptcy protections as part of the deal.
