Reddit readying High Court challenge to u16s ban
Reddit has enlisted a high-profile legal team as it prepares to lodge a High Court of Australia challenge to the under 16 social media ban, which comes into effect on Wednesday.
According to the AFR, Reddit has appointed law firm Thomson Geer — who has successfully taken on the eSafety Commission multiple times on behalf of social media platform X — as well as barrister Perry Herzfeld.
It is expected to lodge within days.
Hmmmm. The battle of publishers to assume that they have any nature to have the right to ignore or avoid our National Laws. P.S. It looks like the US management is the inverse.
In my opinion, this is American’s misunderstanding that their view of freedom (to do whatever you want) is at odds with most of the world, where we view freedom as being free from (harm, harassment and more importantly, old white billionaire men that want to increase their wealth by exploiting under-16s).
Wouldn’t it be great to see big tech working to limit the harms?
