Regulator making ‘inquiries’ into Nine’s Sydney office following allegations

As Nine continues an internal investigation regarding allegations of sexual harassment and bullying against senior managers, the New South Wales workplace regulator has confirmed it is also investigating the claims.
Per Capital Brief, Safework NSW is looking into the allegations specifically in Nine’s Sydney office.
A Safework NSW spokesperson told Mumbrella in a statement: “SafeWork NSW is making inquiries into the recent allegations involving Nine Entertainment. SafeWork NSW has not received a complaint at this stage.”
The news comes just days after it was revealed that two more Nine managers were accused of “predatory behaviour” by a former female staffer who left the media giant in 2022. The complaint was reportedly made via Nine’s newly-established hotline for current and former staff who would like to report “sexual harassment or other inappropriate behaviours”.
It’s understood that a number of mistreatment complaints have been made through the hotline on the back of allegations made against former news boss, Darren Wick.
In a email sent to staff on Monday, CEO Mike Sneesby said the hotline – as well as an internal review, organisation-wide survey and a review by external consultant Intersection – are “crucial to ensuring all our people feel safe and respected in the workplace”.
“We are committed to ensuring that Nine’s culture is one where everyone feels respected, valued and included,” Sneesby’s email reads.
“That culture can only be delivered by acknowledging the issues of the past, recognising the changes in our present, and focusing on an energising future.”
As well as its dedicated hotline, Nine will conduct an organisation-wide survey and staff will undergo sexual harassment prevention training.
External consultant Intersection is expected to reveal its findings from its own review by the end of July.
It really confirms a lot about the complaints management process within the Nine organisation when you read that calls made to a hotline to report sexual misconduct are being leaked to media outlets by someone inside the business.
This type of behaviour is rampant across the media/TV industry and it is not unique to Nine. Too many egotistical power plays and manipulate management practices.
