Rise of the Guardians debut can’t stop Bond at box office

Bond film Skyfall is on top of the Australian box office for the fourth consecutive weekend – despite the opening of animated film Rise of the Guardians.

The Paramount holiday-season film opened across 520 screens to make $2.5010m for a screen average of $4,827, but it wasn’t enough to topple Bond.

Skyfall went out across 569 screens for a screen average of $5,611 to take $3.192m for Sony Pictures.

Rise of the Guardians is about Jack Frost, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Sandman and the Tooth Fairy who must protect the innocence of children against the evil Pitch. The film features the voices of two Australians, Hugh Jackman as Bunnymund and Isla Fisher as Tooth Fairy.
