Roy & HG return to ABC NewsRadio for Festival of the Boot
Comedians and sports personalities ‘Rampaging’ Roy Slaven and HG Nelson returns to ABC radio to present the Festival of the Boot parts one and two, the AFL grand final on Saturday 29 September and the NRL grand final on 30 September respectively.
The announcement:
Returning to their spiritual home of the ABC, after a four year absence, Rampaging Roy Slaven and HG Nelson will be hosting the Festival of the Boot Parts 1 and 2 only on ABC NewsRadio on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 September.
HG Nelson says “The Festival of the Boot is the climax of the year. Politics, life style issues and food are forgotten about for a weekend of dreams. It has long been a dream of ours to bring the magic of The Boot to ABC NewsRadio. In 2012 both parts of The Boot embrace the yin and yang of the news community. UN Supremo, Ban Ki-moon is a rugby league nutter whereas Aung San Suu Kyi would not know Dave Taylor from a coal train but she cannot get enough of Hawk Buddy Franklin on the run fifty metres out in front of the big sticks.”
Any word on if it will be podcasted?
Just amazing that 7 or 9 don’t drop there own commentators and offer the Roy and HG option on a simulcast on one of the digital stations. i would watch for sure.
This is the best news I heard all year.
Am thrilled – will spread the word at work/uni and beyond.
The only better news I could have heard reported is a complete outbreak of world peace and the discovery of a colony of Tasmania tigers!
TV sound down, radio up with Roy and HG … and it’s free. Livin’ the dream!
Gold – absolute gold!!!
Bloody bewdy, the great debunkers are back!!!
At last a good raeson to see the GF’s on the weekend – Roy and HG giving it to us as we like it!
The only reason to watch a game of of League is if Roy and HG are doing the call.
Fantastic weekend coming up.
This will be unmissable! If only they had done the Olympics. Who could forget “The Dream” in 2000.
Unmissable. If only they had done the Olympics. Who could forget “The Dream”?
Just wondering if this will be available on the podcast?
Some of us had to work on Saturday and Sunday and missed all the AFL and 3/4 of the NRL.
Have it recorded from the TV, but need to turn down the sound at my end of the swamp.
