SA government: drink too much, you’re asking for trouble
The government of South Australia has launched a campaign to warn of the consequences of excessive drinking.
“We have no qualms about the graphic nature of these commercials, because what they show is no different to what actually happens far too often,” said minister for health and substance abuse John Hill.
The ‘Drink too much, you’re asking for trouble’ ad series, targeted at 18 to 39 year old men and 18-29 year old women, depicts three different scenarios. In the first, two men are arrested after a booze-fuelled assault.
Ads are bullshit. Seriously.
The first guy looks like he’s on ice; not booze.
The ad with the girls laughing at their friend is pathetic – is this based any insight? If any of my friends passed out, I’ll be very concerned. This is the reality for most people.
But the tagline is stupid – and just plain wrong. What happens if a girl gets really drunk and she’s sexually assaulted; according to this campaign’s tagline, she was asking for trouble.
Now I’m off to play the pokies!
Are you KIDDING?! Has anyone seen the SA Tourism ads which I like to think of as ‘Go to SA and get on the wines’. Maybe their various departments need to liaise a little more… SA markets itself as the official drinking state of Australia!
These are awful!! Particularly the one with the girls – that would never happen
It’s been my experience that other girls, strangers or otherwise are likely to help out a girl in that situation – not stand there and laugh. I actually find that ad a bit offensive.
I also agree with Lead the way, Brucey – so if a girl drinks too much, she’s asking for sexual assault?
