Sam Neill is ‘Ready for anything’ in Host’s first campaign for MLA
Sam Neill has returned in the latest advertising for Meat & Livestock Australia – the first campaign created by Host, which was acquired by French marketing group Havas less than a fortnight ago.
In the ads, Sam Neill plays a newsreader who is ‘Ready for anything’ after eating red meat. The ads see MLA’s ‘Red Meat Amazing Food’ slogan replaced.

Glen Feist, GM, Meat & Livestock Australia, said: “This campaign is both the culmination of previous campaigns and insightful consumer research looking at red meat and what it means as part of a healthy life as well as the start of a 3-5 year strategic marketing plan about the benefits of enjoying red meat 3 to 4 times a week as part of a healthy diet.”
The TV spots will also be supported by digital, press and a radio promotion on Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa show where they will take on a series of ‘Ready for Anything’ challenges.

Newsreaders wearing no trousers – that’s hilarious and so fresh.
Hmmm disappointing ! I could see that one coming a mile away.
I wonder what the average Australian cattle producer thinks of this, especially the ones that had to incur financial loss due to the recent export ban to Indonesia.
It makes me wonder if the MLA’s money would be better spent on the ground, working with key stakeholders, the trade and overseas customers rather than wasting money on expensive ad campaigns like this one, funded by cattle farmers!!!
thats clever very funny ad 🙂
oh dear.
oh dear. oh dear. oh dear.
That truly is the worst thing I have seen in a long time. Derivative. Childish. Tepid.
Anyone who criticised the drunk monkeys really should have a long hard look at this ‘original’ ad.
It is bloody awful.
Tim, PLEASE, take the link to the videos down. Save us!!!
Is Sam ready to find a way to humanely kill live Australian cattle in Indonesia?
MLA has a lot of gall pushing this happy horseshit at us.
Does Sam Neil really hold his knife like that or did the director tell him to do it so he’d have the common touch?
More importantly please ditch Sam Neil he is irratating beyond belief. I buy red meat in spite of these ads not becasue of them.
This is a step down from the previous MLA campaigns. Host have dropped the ball on this one.
is it too soon to blame the quality of the work on the havas acquisition??!!
Meh.
What a waste of good talent that is.
