Sanctum’s Andrew Wight killed in helicopter crash

Sanctum co-creator Andrew Wight has been killed in a helicopter accident near Nowra in New South Wales, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
Wight was the producer of the James Cameron-backed Sanctum, which was Australia’s first live 3D feature. He also produced a string of TV documentaries as well as James Cameron’s Titanic doco Ghosts of the Abyss.
A few days ago, Wight opened an office in Melbourne for Cameron Pace Group. It was the first international office for Cameron’s 3D company. In the announcement Wight spoke of his pride at bringing the office to Australia.
Andrew was such an adventurer. It is hardly surprising his final moments were spent in a chopper, in a deep underwater cave, or miles under the surface of the ocean. He was unique in this industry. A pragmatist, a can do guy. He had no time for the precious ones, the molly coddled ones of our industry. He had much more to offer.
A very sad loss for the film industry, indeed.
It must be pointed out, in the interests of fact checking, that the director of Sanctum is Alister Grierson, according to imdb anyway.

Watching this lovely talk by Mike you can see why he and James Cameron and Andrew Wight were so close. They were all so passionate about going up as high as they could and going down as far as they could see. Fearless boys. Passionate men.
