SBS 2 announces channel partners
SBS has announced its channel partners for the launch of SBS 2.
The announcement:
SBS 2 is proud to announce Lion and KFC as brand partners for the channel’s relaunch, which takes place at 6pm on April 1.
The brands have signed on to SBS 2 to reach its target audience of 18-39 year olds for a three-month partnership period.
SBS Media, Director of Sales, Andrew Cook said: “We are thrilled to announce two of the country’s leading brands as partners, as they seek to access the under-40 media audience that SBS 2 will connect with.
“The calibre of our launch partners reflects the high quality programming that the new SBS 2 will broadcast, as well as the new ways we are enabling our diverse audience to access content. Lion and KFC have seen the value in how SBS 2 will connect in a meaningful way with a typically hard to reach audience.”
SBS 2 will offer viewers free-to-air and Australian premiere content, including the channel’s first commissioned program, The Feed, dedicated sport programming and a flexible approach to content delivery with the launch of an Australian-first media opportunity, Back2Back, where viewers get to watch the whole series of new programs via the SBS ON DEMAND service before they broadcast on the channel.
With its first commissioned program, The Feed, SBS 2 will also add a fresh perspective on the latest local and international headlines. Presented by a skilled team of journalists, The Feed will combine topical commentary, pop culture news and in-depth features with the news of the day – presented in a fresh and innovative way. SBS 2 will launch with regular 30-second dedicated channel newsbreaks throughout the evening and online and social media news updates.
Friday night football comes to SBS 2 when the 2013-14 season of the Hyundai A-League kicks off in October. SBS 2 will broadcast one live blockbuster match every Friday night as well as all Hyundai A-League Finals matches on a one hour delay. This will be the first time that the Hyundai A-League is broadcast on free-to-air TV.
Back2Back will offer three series at launch from April: Bullet in the Face, Don’t Tell My Mother and The Tales of Nights.
SBS 2 will be a new home for the ‘thinking 30-somethings’ and a place to share their passion for emerging cultural ideas and experiences with diverse content from around the world that is edgy, adventurous, fun, and connects audiences with the world.

Great – just what we need – KFC supporting a government subsidised FTV channel.
Seriously SBS – will you not consider who takes your ad space?
@weneedit What’s wrong with KFC?
