SBS pulls large audiences for World Cup coverage
SBS has pulled in strong TV audiences for its World Cup coverage, with 1.741m capital city viewers tuning in at 8am on Saturday to watch the Australia versus Chile match.
The Australia versus Chile post match analysis drew a slightly smaller audience of 1.008m .
hi Mumbrella, looks like an error in the metro 5cap numbers….it did closer to 1.8m for the Aus vs Chile game
Who would have thought ?
Your audience figures are incorrect.
The Aus V Chi live match did close to 1.8m metro, 2.2m metro + reg.
The Eng V Ita live match drew around 1m.
Hi Zac,
I have seen a press release form SBS claiming 1.7m metro. We have not been able to get a clear understanding from them on how they reach this number (possibly adding up the audience for pre-match, the match and post-match?). But the preliminary metro number from OzTAM for the live match is very clearly 714,000.
PS – I see you share an IP address with Smiffy – how about that?
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
Thanks for amending the story with the correct numbers. Looks like the OzTAM figures weren’t very clear in the end – how about that?
P.S. Perhaps Smiffy and I share an IP address, maybe an office, possibly a coffee, or even a shoulder to cry on when reporting goes awry.
The England v Italy game started at 8am (AEST).
Sydney beat Port on the weekend. Go the swannies.
