SCA boss Grant Blackley admits company could be a buyer or a seller ahead of imminent media consolidation
Southern Cross Austereo’s CEO Grant Blackley has admitted all media companies are running the numbers on each other ahead of imminent consolidation.
Most media companies have been getting their house in order over the past 12 months, he said, and “running the numbers on every permeation”. SCA, he conceded, could be either a buyer or a seller when it kicks off.
2day FMs music is much better with the change of format, which should bring in more listeners. It is distinctive, almost like a younger version of 973 Brisbane.
I’m not sure that RNB Friday’s is a good fit for the new format though. It doesn’t sound right and it’s inconsistent with the overall format of ‘more music, more variety’.
Perhaps they could instead keep RNB Friday’s as a 24-7 DAB station, complementing the hit network and Oldskool.
However, the elephant in the room is still breakfast. Only time will tell if it will have an impact in the competitive Sydney radio landscape.
