Screen Australia gives $1m in funding, expands original content

Screen Australia has given $1m in development funding to include the implementation of new online series, television projects, producers and a new director.

A feature adaption of Leah Purcell's play The Drover's Wife will be included by the funding.

Nerida Moore, senior development manager at Screen Australia, said: “This round of development funding reflects the vibrancy of the story landscape in Australia with thrillers and romance, crime and comedies, sports dramas and musicals.”

The funded projects include: crime television show The Gloaming; feature film The Variations; a feature adaption of The Drover’s Wife; Animals; Buoyancy, and online comedy series, The Fair Way.
