Screentime sells major stake to Banijay Group
An international production company has bought a major stake in Australasian production company Screentime.
Banijay Group acquired the TV company behind the successful Underbelly franchise and recent mini-series Cloudstreet, as well as Screentime’s interest in its affiliate company in Ireland. The deal means Screentime will gain access to Banijay’s portfolio of formats to adapt locally and conversely Banijay will have access to Screentime’s titles for international production, including a refreshed version of its shiny floor show Popstars, due to launch at MIPCOM.
Banijay’s list of credits include Beat Your Host, My Parents Are Gonna Love You and Tempted, with new game show Trust also expected to launch at MIPCOM.
In a statement, Bob Campbell and Des Monaghan of Screentime said: “We are delighted that Screentime is entering this association with Banijay enabling us to become part of a major international production group. It will give Screentime and its people access to Banijay’s international creativity and innovation. At the same time it will provide a powerful and well-resourced distribution outlet for our programmes and formats through Banijay International.”
Nice move.
