Sefiani launches ‘Responsible Business’ unit to be led by Julia Hoy

Sefiani, part of Clarity Global, has launched its new Global Responsible Business Unit, designed to help businesses navigate sustainability comms in a global context.

Bringing together leaders from Australia, Europe, and North America, the new unit combines local expertise with global best practices, and hopes to empower companies to communicate their ‘Responsible Business’ practices with confidence, authenticity, and integrity.

Defining Responsible Business practices as those that go beyond basic ESG compliance and those that strive to create positive influences on people and the planet, the new unit will be led by Julia Hoy.

Hoy has been with Sefiani since 2019, when she rejoined as a senior comms consultant. She had previously worked at the group from 2004-2008 as an account manager, before moving to the UK and working at leading agencies and brands including Unilever, salt PR, and Hoy Associates.

In 2021, Hoy was promoted to sustainability communications practice lead for the agency’s dedicated Sustainability Communications Practice. Last year, she moved up again to associate partner.

“As businesses continue to navigate the complexities of ESG integration, our new Global Responsible Business Unit is aims to help companies leverage communications not just as a tool for sharing information but as the driving force that aligns corporate strategy with sustainability goals, builds trust with stakeholders, and ultimately powers meaningful, long-term change,” Hoy said.

“It has never been more challenging to communicate about a company’s Responsible Business actions, yet it has never been more essential. Stakeholders – including investors, employees, consumers, and customers – demand transparency about the actions being taken by the companies they invest in, work at, or buy from.

“However, research consistently shows a gap in the information being provided. Companies must work harder to bridge this gap; otherwise, they risk losing control of their narrative and faltering in stakeholder engagement,” she added.

Joining her in the unit are Catriona Biggart, SVP Clarity Global UK, and Jason Wakeford, associate partner, North America.

The launch comes as Sefiani’s parent company, Clarity Global, celebrates achieving B Corp certification.
