Senior employees exit M&C Saatchi Group

A number of senior colleagues at M&C Saatchi Australia have departed the agency.

It is understood that four employees are no longer with the agency, one being group creative director, Sharon Edmondston, who has worked with M&C Saatchi for almost nine years.

Edmondston confirmed her departure to Mumbrella and declined to comment, but wished the company well.

Edmondston joined M&C Saatchi in August 2015 as creative director – a role she worked in for over seven years – and was then elevated to group creative director in February 2023.

When contacted by Mumbrella regarding Edmondston and other employee exits, an M&C Saatchi spokesperson gave the following statement:

“As M&C Saatchi embraces the optimum creative structure for our clients’ needs and evolving capabilities, the necessary yet difficult decision has been made to reshape select roles.

“We are sad to part ways with colleagues that have played significant roles in delivering exceptional campaigns for our valued clients; for which we would like to say a heartfelt thank you.

“Small changes to our creative structure are required to channel our big ambition and purposefully continue M&C Saatchi Group on its trajectory of success.”

It marks more senior departures for M&C Saatchi in recent times, after its chief strategy officer, Emily Taylor, left in February after three and a half years.

In October last year, chief creative officer, Cam Blackley, also moved on, saying at the time that the agency was going “through a period of transition and that has accelerated the decision to part company”.

The transition meant global restructures, with staff lay offs across the UK and Asia-Pacific regions, including less than 10 redundancies in Australia in December.

However in March, M&C Saatchi picked up a big name in former The Monkeys’ creative director, Scott Dettrick, as its new joint national executive creative director.
