Serena Williams’ progression to quarter final averages 842,000
Nine’s tennis match between Serena Williams and Simona Halep, which saw Williams progress to the quarter-finals, averaged 842,000 metro viewers last night.
According to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary ratings, the match, which finished in three sets, was the most watched show in its time slot, beating Ten’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, and Seven’s Big Bash match between Adelaide and Hobart.

Zoe, good to see that you refer to the fact that the match averaged 862,000, as many people don’t realise that is what a TV rating actually means.
Of course, many, many more people would have tuned in for just part of the match so its reach would be a lot higher than 862,000. (And that is just for the two-thirds of the population who live in SMBAP which OzTAM covers.)
