Disastrous night at the Logies for Nine
The Nine Network has suffered its worst night in more than half a century of the Logies, picking up just one award from the 22 categories that were up for grabs.
The network – which dominated the TV awards for much of its history – won just one silver Logie last night – for the NRL edition of The Footy Show.
Humiliatingly, Nine was even beaten by SBS, which collected four Logies, despite its comparatively tiny budget.
Seven was the biggest winner of the night, with eight Logies. Ten collected seven Logies and the ABC won two.
Seems the blokey 9 Network image has finally run its race, not even violence fantacy ‘Underbelly’ could save the night for the network. Must have been so humiliating for all the Nine people watching the evening unfold gobsmacked – here they were foooting the hefty bill for rival networks to flog their more popular wares. Will be interesting to see if Nine won the ratings for the night.
The NRL footy show won, not the AFL version, but really who cares if they are the best ‘sports’ shows this country can muster.
Hopefully this will make nine realise the farce these awards have become and give them a complete revamp.

Does Nine have ”ANYTHING” worth watching.? even Top Gear seems somehow dated on the Nine network, i loved watching Top Gear on SBS, it seemed like it was COOLER.? Typical of Nine to buy something after the horse bolted, Didn’t they think the same way about Seinfeld.? (too american centric, Australians won’t get it.??) i have a mental tape over the button on my remote, which says DON’T hit 9….it’ll be sport or sport, if by some chance i hit it by mistake, and get lucky i might get a REPEAT of a REPEAT of a REPEAT on two & half men. just about every other network has woken up to the fact even the Australian demographic has changed..(see Hey Hey its saturday, plllleeeeze.? Channel 9 (see bad 80’s groundhog day)
This is a people choice awards correct? Does anyone know anyone who actually votes??!!?
The best thing about the Logies is drunk Karl Stefanovic the next day. Excellent viewing! Bring that back.
I love that the NRL Footy Show won when the ABC also won for their public affairs report Code of Silence on Four Corners. A contradiction, perhaps?

Well if Nine only won one of the Gongs then they made up for it on the red carpet meet and greet. It was nearly all one way stars from the network – Nine. It was enough to turn off then and there.
Why would anybody watch this crap? And just who is Ray Meagre?
If Ray Meagre is voted the most popular “talent” on Australian television in 2010, its any wonder why I pay my monthly Foxtel Bill with no guilt what so ever.
Serves 9 right for butchering the Olympics, Top Gear and V. And serving up embarrassments like ACA all year. And that’s just the shite I’ve caught. Terrible broadcaster.

I bet Nine had an emergency Board meeting today after only 1 logie – it is all they deserved. They show more ads than any other network and just rehash repeats of Two & half men. And if anyone dare says Nine wins the ratings, then they have to be rigged. I used to love Channel 9 up until the 90’s then the decline began. The Seven Network have all the wonderful personalities that are natural and down to earth. Maybe Nine should switch over and check it out.
I wonder if the Logies are relevant anymore. I mean, they never were, but… is there better ways for acknowledging excellence?
Dave, the Logies are probably as relevant as the various local advertising awards we all enter and secretly hope to win – except the Logies draw from a larger pool.

The only ‘Silver’ Logies in the popular characters are for Most Popular Actor, Most Popular Actress and Most Popular Presenter. While the other Logies are are less shiny silver colour, their categories are not ‘Silver Logies’ per se.
No Edy – the most popular logies are all silver, the most outstanding awards are the less shiny silver. The NRL’s Footy Show’s Logies was indeed a ‘Silver’ one.
Is it true there is going to be a Logie award for a best TV ad organized by Rob Belgiovane? I suppose this is not such a bad development, provided it does not become a Rob Belgiovane influenced award, but truly a public one. In the UK, the TV BAFTA (British Academy Television Awards) “Audience Award” is decided solely by YouTube votes and YouTube have their own Bafta online shortlist site. I guess the only area that will still come into considerable criticism, will be how respondents votes or data is gathered and whether it is all really “public” voting. For years, large networks, such as corporations with social network users across every country, obviously vote for their own work. TV Week, Nine, certain agencies and advertisers have a pretty close-knit influence over each other and this professional –v- public influence might still be questioned in the voting process. All these processes are being heavily scrutinized right now because of dubious privacy of personal information, particularly as large networks like Facebook and Twitter can ‘swing votes’ entirely. That incestuous nature and jury represented by every agency are still able to make a lot of ‘public noise’ anyway.
