Seven looked at, and passed on, the Australian Ninja Warrior franchise, a decision it now admits was ‘regrettable’ in light of the show’s success on rival Nine.
The network also conceded it needs another stripped reality format for its upcoming programming slate and said its not against more cooking or renovation shows.

“Head of unscripted development” – That Job Title should be the real regret here
The focus on Broad appeal and not taking punts on things that seem a little risky or off-centre is exactly why we rarely see anything good coming out of network television anymore..
I sense that in a years time they’ll come full circle and say “we aren’t taking enough risks” (and then do nothing bold.. again)

Shhhh… Unscripted shows are scripted up the wazoo. So is HYBPA.
Spot on Squirrel. The Project even rehearse the scripted jokes with a full show runthrough before going to air live and acting the show again. Hopeless.
