Seven West Media promotes VC recipient Ben Roberts-Smith to GM Queensland office
Seven West Media has promoted Victoria Cross recipient Ben Roberts-Smith to the role of general manager of Seven Queensland.
Roberts-Smith was hired by the TV network in April, taking the role of deputy general manager of their Queensland operations and also fronting a Sunday Night documentary on the first world war.
Announcing the appointment of Roberts-Smith, Tim Worner, the CEO of Seven West Media, said: “We are delighted to announce this appointment. Ben has been a part of the Seven Network for a number of years and has impressed us greatly with his management and leadership skills.”

Many years ago I was upbraided by the wife of a VC holder for calling him a “winner”. She made it quite clear that you did not enter a contest to get a VC. I reckon she was right and from then on I’ve referred to them as “recipients”. Might be worth revisiting your style guide on this.
Hi Dan,
A good point well made – I’ve altered the headline to reflect what we had in the body text.
Cheers,
