Rafter’s comeback and Stosur’s appearance helps Seven win the night

Live tennis helped Seven win the largest share of the free TV audience last night as the match lineup of Aussie players drew in 828,000 metro viewers throughout the prime time schedule, according to OzTam.

Preliminary overnight metro ratings show day three of the Australian Open, in which Australian Samantha Stosur won her match in straight sets, and Pat Rafter and Lleyton Hewitt’s new doubles partnership lost in two, helped Seven win a 23.9 per cent share of the audience from 7pm.

The late night session of the tennis had 507,000 viewers, with zero watching in Perth where the evening session was shown on 7Two. Seven’s Tennis averaged 444,000 for play during the day, ranking 17th and 18th in all programs. The Australian Open had a total of 333,000 viewers on multichannel 7Two.
