Sharri Markson is appointed editor of Cleo

Bauer Media, formerly ACP Magazines, has appointed ex-Sunday Telegraph political reporter Sharri Markson as the new editor of Cleo.

Markson – who is just 28 years old – joins from Seven in Sydney, where she is news editor. She starts in January and will replace Gemma Crisp, who is leaving Australia to relocate to the UK.

Bauer’s publishing director Gerry Reynolds said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have one of Australia’s brightest young journalists taking the reins of one of our most important brands. We have no doubt Sharri will bring considerable depth to the role.”

During her time at News Limited, Markson was twice named Young Journalist of the Year, which earned her stints on The Sun in London and the New York Post. She won a Walkley Award last month in the television new reporting category.
