Shifts and shuffles: Will next year’s radio tweaks fuel new rivalries?
With one survey left for the year and 2018 lineups almost complete, Mumbrella’s Zoe Samios chats with the radio bosses about yesterday’s ratings and assesses whether next year’s changes could shake up the competition.
The radio year is almost complete and finally the industry has offered up its long-awaited answers on what’s to come in 2018.
It wasn’t long after survey six when ARN and SCA revealed a number of major changes along with some tweaks to breakfast across Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.
For drive, next year is about a complete talent overhaul – including brand new national drive shows for Triple M, Hit Network and Kiis Network.
I’d be very surprised if a) Hit’s changes work and b) Gemma Fordham still has her job at the end of next year. She’s failed to make any substantial inroads but will always hype the smallest victory.
Why are there still so many dudes? ?
Yet again the same banal mediocrity known as commercial radio will serve up the same hackneyed content repetitive play lists stunts & associated garbage
What version of identify that sound will we get next year after listening to thirty continuous tracks as we are repeatedly told every half an hour as if we didn’t know or can’t actually count.
If I ever come across the producer of those national tile adverts I will show a whole new use for a tile cutter.
Out of all the changes earmarked for 2018 particularly the FM stations i think it sad to see the old 2UE languishing almost last in 10 plus. There has been so many re incarnations in every session and as a former dynamic AM performer they just can’t get it right. There sister station 3AW continues to dominate in Melbourne so can’t work out why in Sydney they are just not remotely in the game. The minute 2 big names defected to GB they have never ever looked like recovering.
I will never understand how people listen to commercial radio stations. The Ads kill my life.
Triple J >
Triple J is the epitome of commercial crap
