Sia tops Spotify’s Australian Music Global Impact list
Spotify has compiled the 30 Australian songs released during 2023 with the biggest global streaming numbers.
The Australian Music Global Impact List is limited to tracks released in the 2023 calendar year, and excludes streams from Australia, in order to see the local songs with the biggest international impact.
Sia’s Gimme Love topped the list, while Kevin Parker’s team-up with American musician Thundercat came in second. Both artists have established global fanbases, so it’s not too surprising to see them leading the charge.
The Kid LAROI wins for sheer impact, with five of the 30 most-streamed songs by Australian artists, while Troye Sivan and Dom Dolla landed three apiece.
“The 2023 Spotify Australian Music Global Impact List is an excellent snapshot of local artists having an impact on the global stage, and it’s pleasing to see that our first full-year edition contains a mix of established and emerging artists,” said Spotify Australia Head of Music Alicia Sbrugnera.
“We’re proud to be playing our part in helping Australia on its journey to becoming a significant exporter of music, as well as helping prove that making it big in international markets is a legitimate path to career growth and success for local artists.”
