Sigmund Freud sculpture emerges in Melbourne as part of Vienna Tourism push

A three-metre art installation of Sigmund Freud has appeared at Federation Square in Melbourne as part of a Vienna Tourism Board initiative to promote the city’s culture and attract tourists.

The sculpture features a couch where passers-by can be photographed and ‘analysed’

Freud is surrounded by a three-dimensional white sculpture which was created by Vienna Street artist Nychos and includes a couch for passers-by to sit on and put themselves ‘up for analysis’.

Visitors are able to create gifs of their experience through a booth and upload images to social media with the hashtag #viennatherapy, and use a brainwave-tracking headset which, according to the Vienna Tourism Board, allows people to have their minds mapped.
