Significant seven: best on air talent
Over the next few days, we are publishing highlights from this year’s Mumbrella Annual.
1. Hamish Blake
Ten programming boss David Mott wasn’t quite on the money when he said audiences would happily watch Hamish Blake and Andy Lee read from the phonebook – especially when the pair’s Gap Year show hit a ratings wall. But he wasn’t far off. Blake is a today network stalwart also featured in ABC2 series Twentysomething.
2. Paul Murray
The next generation 2UE host only won a tiny bit of the radio drivetime audience and opted to front a show ‘off Broadway’ with Paul Murray Live on Sky News. But Murray’s likeability makes him a bankable asset on radio and TV.
3. Rove McManus
McManus is now located in LA where he’s hosting talk show Rove LA. Not bad for a young lad from Perth who started off on community TV. Rove’s latest offering is doing well for Foxtel with a second series announced at the 2012 programming launch.
Rove! Ha! What a ridiculous inclusion.
