Coconut water brand Sip Coco has announced its first major sponsorship, partnering with Surfing Queensland for the Gold Coast Open from 18–22 February 2026 at Burleigh Heads.

The announcement:
Australia’s newest and freshest coconut water Sip Coco has announced its first major sponsorship, jumping onboard as a partner for Surfing Queensland’s Gold Coast Open from February 18 to 22, 2026, at Burleigh Heads.
As part of the sponsorship, some of the world’s best surfers will enjoy Sip Coco’s canned coconut water in between sets as they battle it out in the World Surf League qualifying event, which has previously been won by the likes of Ethan Ewing, Julian Wilson, Sally Fitzgibbons, Taj Burrow and Owen Wright.
Sip Coco’s rainbow of refreshing flavours will also be available to attendees, and the beverage business is partnering with Surfing Queensland’s Surf Sisters, which fosters female surfing in the state, to keep the local surfers hydrated when they take to the waves during the event.
Sip Coco marketing director Tayla Dodd said the Queensland business was thrilled to be supporting a local event.
“I can’t think of a better fit for our natural coconut water than a Queensland surfing event. Sip Coco is the taste of summer, it’s like a tropical holiday in a can, and with no added sugar and natural electrolytes, our pure coconut water is the perfect way to rehydrate after a surf or on a hot summer’s day on the Goldie. As a homegrown business, we are proud to be supporting homegrown talent in the Sunshine State and we can’t wait to see surfers and punters sipping our cool, colourful cans at the Gold Coast Open,” Tayla said.
Brisbane-based Sip Coco is an honest, no-fuss coconut water that launched in 2025 to offer a natural option that looks and tastes good. As the only coconut water in a 330ml can, Sip Coco’s chic and contemporary branding takes coconut water in a fresh new direction for the growing coconut water market in Australia, which is tipped to exceed one billion dollars by 2030 with a CAGR of 19 per cent, off the back of growing awareness of its health benefits.
Sip Coco comes in a range of flavours and colourful cans, including a tasty teal-coloured 100% pure coconut water. Other flavours include chocolate, passionfruit, ginger, watermelon, lychee and pineapple, which contain around 90% coconut water plus a splash of fresh fruit juice – never from concentrate – no added sugar, and five natural electrolytes – sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium and phosphorus.
Surfing Queensland head of operations Elliot Dempster said the Gold Coast Open’s extended five-day event was a chance for the community to get together and watch some amazing surfing while also soaking up the atmosphere of a world class sporting event.
“While there is no doubt the Gold Coast Open is a prestigious stop on the Australia regional tour and offers world class surfers a major opportunity to earn critical ranking points toward qualification for the 2026 Challenger Series, this year’s event will bring so much more than just elite surfing to Burleigh Heads. Over five days, we’re putting on a fantastic community event with live music, skate demonstrations, a beach bar, sunrise yoga, and fun, interactive experiences with partners like Sip Coco. We are thrilled to have Sip Coco onboard this year and love working with like-minded local businesses to amplify our event for participants and attendees,” Elliot said.
After launching in June last year, Sip Coco quickly sold tens of thousands of units, racking up more than $1 million in sales in its first six months on the market. There was such high demand for the new, natural coconut water that popular flavours such as pineapple and chocolate sold out as more than 500 cafes and retail outlets around Australia stocked the colourful cans. While Sip Coco has been enjoyed at café raves, run clubs, puppy yoga and hyrox events, the Gold Coast Open marks the first major event sponsorship for the new coconut water.
