Sky News and Harvey Norman partner for Our Town series
The Our Town series on Sky News Australia will return with sponsorship from Harvey Norman.
The release:
Paul Murray Live is back on the road this year, with the popular Our Town series returning to Sky News Australia for its fifth season, in partnership with Harvey Norman.
Throughout the year Our Town will broadcast from locations across the country, hearing from residents about the issues and challenges facing the nation’s heartland while also celebrating what regional Australia has to offer.
Since launching in 2019, Our Town has visited 31 regional centres throughout the country, stopping in towns including Broome, Port Piri, Darwin, Launceston, Warrnambool, Wagga Wagga and Cairns.
Paul Murray said: “We’re in our fifth of telling the great stories of the great places in Australia that don’t get enough time in the spotlight. Our show is about coming to town when times are normal, as well as supporting them during times of disaster or crisis. At a time of global uncertainty, I’m glad to go to the smaller towns where people are incredibly resourceful and self-reliant; where they grow their own food, for example, and are not reliant on imports.”
Katie Page, Harvey Norman CEO added: “Our brand is synonymous in small communities and country towns across the country, which is why we’re thrilled to once again partner with Paul Murray Live Our Town in 2023. We’re keen to make a lasting contribution in these regional and rural areas and help celebrate the unique community experiences of each town.”
Paul Whittaker, Sky News Australia CEO said: “Together with our partner Harvey Norman, Sky News is proud to bring audiences a fifth season of the Paul Murray Live Our Town regional series. From flood and bushfire relief, navigating the impacts of Covid-19 on regional communities, to celebrating local unsung heroes, the fifth season Our Town will continue to focus on making a positive impact on each town we visit.”
The Our Town tour will kick off on Sunday 26 February at 9pm AEDT, with the first stop being Orange, NSW. Located in Wiradjuri country, Orange is a town steeped in history and heritage.
In Sunday’s special episode, Paul will speak with Deputy Mayor and owner of Indigenous Cultural Adventures, Gerald Power, to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on local tourism and the recovery plans to get Australians travelling out of the cities to regional centres like Orange.
Paul will also share stories of the town’s past, including its rich gold rush and mining history, and highlight its renowned local produce, speaking with local cheesemakers, fig farmers, and cider distillers. He’ll also highlight some of the fantastic sites to explore, from the Orange Regional Museum to scenic trike tours.
