Sky News banned from Melbourne train stations
Victoria’s transport minister, Jacinta Allan, has directed Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) to cease broadcasting Sky News within its railway stations, saying “hatred and racism have no place on our screens or in our community”.
Its the latest blow for Sky News which continues to suffer in the fall out after inviting right-wing agitator Blair Cottrell – who advocates for immigration based on race and has previously boasted about manipulating women via terror and violence – on air.
I’ve directed @MetroTrains to remove @skynewsaustralia from all CBD station screens. Hatred and racism have no place on our screens or in our community. #springst
Hatred has no place on Sky News. It’s only acceptable on the ABC.
What hatred? To white male bigotted neo-nazis? Poor things so hard done by….
Lesley, I simply feel very sorry for you. Everyday life must be burdensome for you living it through such an off-kilter, disconnected and jaundiced viewpoint. I hope things get better for you.
Great news!
When your formula for success is built on Professional Provocateurs then this is just going to keep on happening. I’m not sure if that’s all the problem is, or if it’s a deliberate move by Murdoch to bring more extremist ideas into the public domain, in order to make politicians like Tony Abbott look, dare we say moderate?!
But a good move none the less.
We do really have to ask ourselves what is our Free Speech for? What sort of society are we trying to build and not just join in a race to the bottom of the barrel for ratings.
If hatred were to exist on the ABC (a highly contentious and unproven allegation, with which I do not agree), that still wouldn’t make it okay on Sky.
this is a ridiculous overreaction that is basically a PR stunt
What a crock. The interview didn’t appear anywhere on any Victorian Station. Political bias at it’s extreme worse.
Others are reporting that it did, multiple times.
