Sky News host Janine Perrett accepts redundancy after ten years

After ten years with the broadcaster, Janine Perrett announced today she had accepted redundancy from Sky News and would be leaving.
Sky News would not comment on if more staff had accepted redundancies, with a spokesperson saying it does not comment on staff issues.
After ten great years at Sky News I have taken redundancy. I was given some wonderful opportunities over the years, made many friends and wish them all good luck for the future. It was 40 years ago this month I started in journalism and I will continue to fight that good fight.

The channel did thank Perrett for her contribution over her tenure.
“We would like to thank Janine Perrett for her outstanding contribution to Sky News over the years and we wish her all the best for the future,” said the spokesperson.
Perrett began her career as a business reporter with The Australian in 1979, before moving to London as the paper’s correspondent. She then moved to the US with the title before returning to Australia in 1989 to take up the helm as business news editor for The Sydney Morning Herald.
After roles at Nine, where she founded The Small Business Show and anchored it until its close in 2002, she took on a guest presenter role with ABC Radio and wrote a column for The Sydney Morning Herald.
Perrett joined Sky News Business in 2010, firstly to host The Perrett Report, but went on to appear across both it and Sky News in a variety of roles including on Paul Murray Live, The Friday Show, The Last Word and Heads Up. She also regularly filled in for other hosts across the network.
Sky News recently announced its 2020 lineup, which saw Derryn Hinch dropped and former radio host Chris Smith join.
Devastated to hear Janine is leaving SKY.
Shame about that … I wonder where she will go?
Sad to see go. She had some commonsense not like Rowan Dean!!!!

Janine was terrific at Sky news. So pleased she has left the snake pit.
There’s nothing sensational about Sky.
It is better than the ABC but you must STOP patting presenters on the back for heavens sake.
Yes Sunday morning is better than ABC Insiders but its not much to outdo there poor program.
Quite the Paul Murray nonsense ‘what a great bloke blar blar blar.
As I have said before he is OK at presenting but weak as Interviewing.
Tump- a disaster and Morrison took complete charge of answering (rambling

Peta and Alan-YES
Good luck for the future. One of the few at Sky not team Trump will miss that from politics.
With David Speers and now Janine Perrett gone, I won’t be watching Sky News.
I think she’s great and I’m sure she’ll find another high profile gig
sorry to see her go thier is a couple that should go like Rowan Dean his are all one sided.
Agreed Sue. It seems as though Sky News doesn’t have room for journalists – just commentators.
Now get rid of Richo, and his new ridiculous comedian mate Vince …..Nicolas Reece…a disaster…..sorry to see Jeanine go…..pleased Hinch has gone …..another disaster…..also the woman who lost Lindsay…..a Turnbull lover………more of Tony Abbott please!!!!!
Janine’s going, David Speers is going. There aren’t any sensible adults left. No reason to watch Sky anymore 🙁
Perfectly well said
Janine was okay but very opinionated to the point of being annoying.
Rowan Dean and Paul Murray are the best on any television program.
Laura needs to go to the ABC as she has a smart a-se attitude.
Never watch any other channel Sky is far the best
Won’t miss Spears but sorry to see Janine go. They didn’t make Sky the great news source that it is.
Are you kidding , Janine was not a good presenter and David Spears was to much to the looney left . Sky have the best presenters on Tv ?
Looking forward to a great 2020 line up! Love Sky News Late!
I had more respect for her business knowledge and straight journalistic role on Channel 9. She had poise and gravitas then, almost on par with Jim Whaley. But that was then. On Sky she came across as too blokey and loud and oh-so-very opinionated.
I’ll never forget the live on-air moment when she joked about ‘poor people’. Talk about kicking people when they’re down! She’s obviously well educated, high profile and well paid, but obviously lacks class and humility. I lost all respect for her right then and there. I’m very glad she was given the arse by Sky.
