Sky News names The Australian’s Andrew Clennell as political editor
Sky News has appointed The Australian’s Andrew Clennell as political editor, following the addition of Kieran Gilbert as chief news anchor last week.
In the on-air role, Clennell will report live from Parliament House during sitting weeks and deliver breaking political news coverage. Previously, he was NSW political editor at The Australian, and has also held positions at The Sydney Morning Herald and The Daily Telegraph, where he was the state’s political editor for seven years.

(L-R) Ashleigh Gillon, Laura Jayes, Andrew Clennell, Kieran Gilbert, Annelise Nielsen and Tom Connell.
It seems that Mr Clennell’s claim to fame, and his job satisfaction, is destroying people’s lives. He holds the scalp of one highly positioned pollie aloft, now he is out after another. It is not that we do not wish to know what is going on in the halls of power, but he seems to enjoy a substantial amount of satisfaction from his “got ya!” moments. Perhaps he would be best suited to plying his trade in the USA, where this stuff is rife. He could join their Media………….or the Democrats who work with equal justo on this type of “got ya” journalism. The Australian way………….a fair go…………..does not appear to be His way. Are his current victim’s actions, although newsworthy, worth another scalp on his pole? When it was shown that the grants were issued in other party’s electorates, not just her brand, he had to find a “top up” so has now added the 160k reports on the sport of shooting. This stuff has been going on for years, BY BOTH SIDES of Politics, and is well known by the public………..so why is it that he wishes to claim this particular scalp. The Labor Party said she had to go………….the Labor Party has been demanding that another member of the Lib govt should go………..will he be the next scalp targeted by Mr Clennell?
