Spartacus Blood and Sand to air on Nine’s Go
Nine Network will air a new ancient roman series, Spartacus Blood and Sand on its digital channel Go in August.
The announcement:
Spartacus: Blood and Sand, the bold new series about the life and death struggle of the Roman gladiators, premieres in August on GO! with a movie-length episode.
With a superb cast of victims and villains, Spartacus: Blood and Sand stars Australian Andy Whitfield (McLeod’s Daughters) as Spartacus alongside John Hannah (The Mummy Trilogy, Four Weddings and a Funeral) and Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess) who play cunning Batiatus, Spartacus’s owner, and his insatiable wife Lucretia.
I wonder if some scenes may be cut?
When does season 2 start? Loved the first season and wondering if that was it, considering all the bluebloods were killed?

surely some scenes will be cut. the run time of the eps in season 1 are between 49 and 56 minutes, not to mention some extremely graphic scenes that they will probably want to avoid all together.

i tried looking looking up the lyrics but all i got was to the left to the left
I also tried Googling it – I heard the lyric ‘you take the left’, ‘you take the right’, ‘count to three’, ‘attack the enemy’ – but I couldn’t find any song that matched. Someone must know this song, right?

I contacted Channel Nine Sydney who advised me that the song is just promo music that has been commissioned for this ad and isn’t available to the general public…
And the youtube link given above does allow you to downoad the song, but it’s just the audio from the ad, which includes all the vopices and sound effects as well.

I can’t believe that it’s just a song created for the ad. It’s too good, and it sounds like it’s part of a longer song that’s been edited down to fit the commercial. I think the receptionist at Channel Nine, or whoever Mel and others talked to, is just too lazy to find out (thanks for trying though Mel). Keep looking guys, I’m sure we’ll find it eventually.

Just watched the Ep1 final Arena scene on GO. All the Blood and dismembership was removed. It was a clean and uninteresting fight. Tish Tish.
seems pretty pointless to have a show that is based around sex and violence…then edit out the sex and violence.
So disappointed. People who watch the series on the tv now, but haven’t actually seen the episodes you can download on the web have no idea what they are missing out on. The (fake looking) blood and over-the-top sex is integral to the stylistic vision of the show. Why has the network decided to treat us all like children? I hope that if/when the series is released on dvd we get the best and original version.
I saw the series a while ago via download and was very disappointed when l saw what Go did with it. If free to air tv isnt prepared to play this type of program unedited then they should let foxtel have have it.
Kim- season 2 has been delayed because main star Andy Whitfield had a battle with cancer earlier this year. They resume production in october. There may also be a prequel before it where spartacus only features in a few scenes.
