Sportsbet jumps into E-sports streaming and betting market with new site Respawn
Online bookmaker Sportsbet is looking to grow its market share by launching a new E-sports portal for Australia called Respawn, as it looks to tap into the lucrative emerging market around online gaming.
Sportsbet already accepts bets on E-sports, which see teams of gamers take part in global competitions across a range of different games such as Halo, League of Legends, Call of Duty and FIFA for prize funds which can stretch into the millions, with a global fanbase estimated at 134 million.
The bookie claims Respawn will feature “the fastest ESL (Electric Sports League) stream in Oceania, live match statistics, odds and upcoming tournament information”. The will put it in competition with the likes of YouTube and Twitch, two of the biggest gaming streaming services.
