Stan commissions first movie with Queensland thriller The Second

Stan Internet streaming service Stan has announced its first movie commission, a psychological thriller called The Second, which has been funded by Queensland taxpayers.

Stan – jointly owned by Nine Entertainment Co and Fairfax Media – will exclusively stream the film after it has had a cinema release.

The Second is the first feature film commissioned by Stan, following its two original series, No Activity and Wolf Creek.

The film, which has its $1m production budget covered by Screen Queensland, will be directed by Mairi Cameron with Stephen Lance as writer/ producer. The Second is “about two female friends whose lives entwine in the pages of an elusive second novel”.
