Stan gets dedicated button on Hisense remote controls and smart TVs

Stan has extended its existing partnership with electronics company Hisense, with a dedicated button for the streaming platform on all new Hisense VIDAA OS Smart TV remote controls.

It’s the first local streaming service to have such a button, which will also feature on a range of 2020 Hisense Smart TVs from August.

Stan chief executive Mike Sneesby said the partnership made the platform more accessible.

The exclusive deals that TV manufacturers are doing with SVOD providers only make it harder for average punters to find their content – Bought a new TV for the kids over the weekend and the mandatory was Disney+ compatibility. Hisense – No, TCL – No, Sony – No (unless buying top of the line).

The only brands that supported it out of the box was Samsung and LG, of which the cost of entry was nearly double that of the challenger brands. However I bought a Samsung anyway.

TV manufacturers – Don’t do exclusive deals with providers, do deals with everyone and you won’t limit your potential customer base
