Steven Burling appointed as EP of Today and director of morning television at Nine
The executive producer of A Current Affair, Steven Burling, has been promoted to director of morning television at Nine, replacing Mark Calvert who announced his departure last week.
Burling’s role will include being the executive producer of Today, which takes on Seven’s Sunrise in the battle for breakfast television supremacy.

Hi Steve, first let me say I don’t envy your job. Having a retail management background for over 40years I have found you can’t please everyone, my self included. Having said that I would like to comment on the new line up on the today show. Both Deb and Georgie are experts in television and journalism, however they just don’t seem to gel as co hosts. I was not a fan of Karl , however he had that larrikin appeal and his head did get a touch larger in recent times. I thought the guy from SA did a great job filling in and it’s a shame he didn’t take the offer of moving to NSW if it was offered to him in the first place. David Campbell would suit working with Georgie as he has that spark required to keep the conversation going with a touch of larrikin. Tim Gilbert had always been good with the sport, vast knowledge and great memory of sporting events / outcomes. I am still trying to get my head around Brooke Boney, she is young / keen and new to television. I hope she doesn’t use this opportunity to push the indigenous wheelbarrow, because people will frown on that. So this is just a perspective from a keen TV fan who grew up on channel 9. If I can give you one more piece of advice, don’t be afraid to make further changes if this first group do not lift ratings. It will show you are human and willing to fix little mistakes before they become big mistakes. Good luck and kind Regards Keith.
