Stuart Mitchell: leaving

Aegis Media deputy chairman Stuart Mitchell is leaving the company. Mitchell is the son of Harold Mitchell, who founded Mitchell & Partners which became Australia’s biggest media buying operation before being bought by Aegis Media. Aegis has since been bought by Dentsu, making the Mitchell family one of the wealthiest in Australia.

There has been consistent speculation in the market for the last few years that Stuart Mitchell might leave. However, his departure now makes succession plans more straightforward with executive Luke Littlefield, currently CEO of Aegis Media in Australia and New Zealand an obvious name.

In the announcemnet Stuart Mitchell said: “This decision was not an easy one. However it is time for a change and the next evolution in my life. It has been an amazing personal journey over the last 21 years; to help and lead our family media business to develop into the largest and most diverse communications group in Australia. I have learnt much, made many personal and professional friendships, locally and globally, for which I will be forever thankful.”
