Sunday Style apologises for Instagram intern ad featuring lingerie model on all fours
News Corp magazine Sunday Style has apologised after posting an advert on Instagram with the word ‘Interns wanted’ over a picture of a woman on all fours in lingerie on a bed.
The image, posted on Friday, was quickly removed from the social networking site following a string of complaints from followers.
Later Sunday Style, the fashion insert on News Corp’s Sunday newspapers which is run by magazine division NewsLifeMedia, posted an apology admitting an “error of judgement” by posting the image.
The original image came with a caption “we are on the hunt for fashion interns” and then details of where candidates could send their CVs, or asking people to tag friends on the site who might be good candidates.
The apology read: “We made an error of judgement today with an image used in a recent Instagram post calling for interns that has since been taken down. We take our intern program seriously and apologise for any offence caused.”News Corp declined to comment further on the post.
Speechless
‘Error of judgement’ doesn’t quite seem to cover that…
hahahahahaha!!!!
It’s faarrrrshion darling
Blame the error of judgement on a summer intern, maybe?
What were they thinking of? Oh yes I think I know. Not much of a recommendation for the magazine itself.
Yeah, but did it get your attention amongst the clutter?
Would suggest – ‘yes’.
Move on people …
Yep be an intern. Get fucked!
Sounds about right..
If this is what working at Sunday Style is like then I’m inclined to apply!
Calling that one-trick pamphlet a magazine is an insult to publishing, just as the ad was an insult to readers and potential free staff, and sexist and demeaning to women (its core audience), too.
Truth in advertising at last…
Are people total fools? As if women haven’t suffered enough sexual harassment and assault in the workplace!! This advert is RAPE CULTURE on display and they don’t even know it. It is NOT a joke or something to just “move on..”- if you have ever been a victim you would know.
Well, that escalated quickly.
Obviously, News Ltd cost cutting has them using algorithms instead of copy writers. Hilarious how maths can dredge up your past patterns of behaviour, innit?
So much for editorial quality control. Sunday style is pretty low rent but who on that team seriously thought this would be a good idea ??
