Sunday Telegraph reveals relaunch
News Ltd’s Sunday tabloid The Sunday Telegraph – Australia’s highest circulating paper – is to relaunch this Sunday.
The changes will include a re-designed news section, an new shopping section, a redesign for travel section Escape, health and wellbeing section Body + Soul and a bigger sports section.
Editor Neil Breen said: “These changes make our paper even better in an ever-increasingly competitive world. With over 1.5 million readers every week, The Sunday Telegraph has an extraordinary level of reader engagement. I’m positive our readers will love these changes.”
I remember the days when it was nearly 2 million readers….
Redesign won’t help the Escape travel section. It’s a sickly reminder of the vibrant, well-written supplement that used to be one of the big pluses with Sundat Telegraph readers. It’s been dumbed down so much it’s now next to useless as a travel guide.
Ben, I remember when it had about 70,000 more sales each week, too. Just a few years ago under the previous editor.
Will there be a non sensationalist section?
it’ll cost $2, too…
I remember when the Sun-Herald sold 700,000+ and had a good 250,000 on the Telegraph, circa 1978. Then Fairfax put Peter Smark in charge and, well, downhill ever since.
The trouble with Fairfax papers is that so much of it seems to come from Melbourne these days that it’s lost much of its relevance.
