Sydney Morning Herald puts photo of wrong man as ‘crime boss’ on today’s front page

The Sydney Morning Herald has apologised after an embarrassing incident saw the paper publish a front-page story this morning with the wrong man photographed.

In a story regarding the CFMEU, the Herald mentioned “jailed Sydney crime boss Mick Ibrahim”, but instead ran a photograph of a completely innocent man.

“Wednesday’s front page of The Sydney Morning Herald print edition contained the wrong photo of Michael Ibrahim,” the paper was forced to publish after being aware of the error.

“The image published was of Sydney businessman Michael Ibrahim, who had no involvement in any of the illegal activities outlined in the story.

“The error occurred during the print production process.

“The Herald unreservedly apologises to Mr Ibrahim for the error.”

The potentially costly error occurred after the Nine-owned masthead slashed its editorial staff last month.
