TEG announces new managing director – experiences

TEG has named Shane Harmon as its new managing director – experiences.

The announcement:

TEG today announced that Shane Harmon, an accomplished Executive in the Sports and Entertainment industries, has been appointed as managing director – experiences for TEG, a global leader in Live Entertainment, Ticketing and Technology.

Harmon joins TEG with more than 25 years industry experience, most recently working as chief executive at Sky Stadium in Wellington. Harmon’s resume also includes working with notable organisations such as Sydney Swans, Rugby Australia, and the local organising committees for Rugby World Cup 2023 and 2011.

Harmon will operate from TEG’s Melbourne office, reporting into TEG Group CEO, Geoff Jones, where he will lead the strategic direction and development for TEG’s Experience arm of the Business. Recently, TEG has promoted exciting family content such as Brickman’s Jurassic World, Paw Patrol Live! and the Friends Experience, which is just about to launch in Sydney.

Shane will take over managing the TEG Experiences portfolio from Rachael Carroll, who will remain in the TEG family as managing director TEG Sport with a dedicated focus on the continued rapid growth of TEG’s global sports content.

“I also want to take this opportunity to thank Rachael Carroll for her leadership and constant drive to turn TEG Experiences and TEG Sport into some of TEG’s biggest success stories. I look forward to continuing working with Rachael to further build TEG Sport as a Global player in the industry.”

Harmon’s career has seen him take senior roles in the Sports and Entertainment industry in Australia and New Zealand. For over a decade, Harmon has secured an impressive portfolio of major Events for Sky Stadium, including Eminem, Te Matatini and FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, all of which contributed to Sky Stadium New Zealand taking out the Venue of the Year Award in 2019 and 2024.

Harmon also played a pivotal role at Events like the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, FIFA Intercontinental playoffs, as well as many other Concerts and major Sporting Events.

Harmon has held governance roles as a Director of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and is currently a Director of Netball New Zealand, where he also serves as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. Harmon is the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award, by the New Zealand Events Association in 2023.

Speaking about his appointment, Harmon said, “I’ve always been impressed with the sheer breadth of TEG’s live offerings and I’m very excited to join Geoff and the TEG team to help build the business further”.

Shane Harmon will commence at TEG in January 2025.
