Telstra extends TV service beyond broadband subscribers

Telstra’s TV service is to be made available to wider range of the telco’s customers following a series of changes to the product announced by the provider.

Until now, Telstra TV was only available to broadband subscribers but with the new changes the streaming service will be available to the telco’s mobile internet and post-paid mobile customers.

Telstra currently claims to have 1.4m TV subscribers through its broadband related offerings. With the changes, customers will be able to use the service even if they are using a competing internet provider.

Telstra TV is a great device in theory, but the UX is riddled with bugs and is so slow. I dumped mine after 3 months and bought an Apple TV instead and just use the FTA’s BVOD apps to access live TV

Telstra TV has always been available to mobile only subscribers. I used one when it was the only way to watch Foxtel online in HD, and I simply logged in with my mobile only Telstra ID. I have never had broadband with Telstra.
