Australian Grand Prix F1 pulls in 864,000 for race as ABC’s Doc Martin tops Sunday night
Ten’s broadcast of the Australia Grand Prix Formula One was a popular choice over the weekend, with the race, which aired from 4:00pm, pulling in 864,000 metro viewers.
The race was momentarily stopped after an accident which saw Fernando Alonso’s car flip repeatedly before crumbling to pieces and hitting a barrier at turn three of the Albert Park circuit after the Spaniard clipped the rear of Esteban Gutierrez of Haas Racing at full-speed while trying to pass him around the outside on lap 17 of 57.
The halt to the race saw the podium part of the broadcast take place just before 6:00pm, as opposed to the scheduled 5:35pm, with 709,000 metro viewers tuning in to see Nico Rosberg take out first place as Australian Daniel Ricciardo missed out on the podium, taking fourth place.
