Ten’s Odd Couple debuts with 709,000, while MKR tops the night with 1.713m
Channel Ten’s new US comedy The Odd Couple, which stars Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon, has debuted in Australia with a metro audience of 709,000 viewers.
According the Oztam preliminary overnight metro numbers the first Australian airing of the comedy saw Ten achieve a result in the 7.30pm slot above where it was at the start of the final week of I’m a Celebrity, which two weeks ago drew 688,000. The result was also well above last week’s Neighbours 30 year special which drew only 429,000 metro viewers.
The result came on a night when Seven’s My Kitchen Rules, once again, topped the night with an audience of 1.173m to be the top show of the night.
It easily out-rated its reality rival The Block: Triple Threat which saw Monday night audiences drop off for the third week in a row with an audience of 836,000, down from 902,000 metro viewers two week ago and 861,000 last week.
Damn it! Is it me or has Seven Network obtained the cheat codes for the whole 2015 ratings year? It’s like the 2011 ratings year all over again. Nine Network, Ten, ABC and SBS, you have my permission to get your revenge on Seven. Do anything and everything to hurt Seven. Sabotage the instant restaurants, make the contests on X-Factor screw up their live shows (because Seven will tape the auditions and edit them anyway), break Johanna Griggs’s legs, anything to even the score as we soon enter the 2nd ratings period.
PS. Also, can we blow up the Martin Place studios or make Kochie or Sam on Sunrise say a very bad word into the mike?
