The Age wins newspaper of the year

panpa trophyFairfax Media’s The Age won newspaper of the year in the 90,000+ circulation category at last night’s PANPA Awards.

But among the biggest cheers of the night went to fellow Fairfax title The Press in Christchurch which won newspaper of the year in the 25,000 to 90,000 circulation in part for its handling of the earthquake disaster.

PANPA is the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers Association.

The trophy for The Age saw the title move from Sydney to Melbourne. For the previous two years it was won by fellow Fairfax title the Sydney Morning Herald. The Australian did not enter this year.
