The Amazing Race Australia launches to 451k metro viewers; Nine wins Monday

The Amazing Race Australia launch on Ten aired to a metro audience of 451,000, (589,000 viewers nationally) on Monday, however, it was Nine which celebrated the overall network share win.
The format, now fronted by Beau Ryan, ran for three years on Seven in 2011, 2012, and 2014, and was revived by Ten in 2019. It opened to 596,000 metro viewers last season, with the finale watched by 584,000 metro viewers.

Paramount ANZ, SVP content and programming, Daniel Monaghan said: “We are off and racing around the world again and what a cracking start it was. From the moment the 10 teams ripped open their first envelope, it was on, and on the screens of Australians who tuned in to watch the other race that stops the nation. The Amazing Race Australia achieved its biggest ever launch share in 25 to 54s (28.7%) and its biggest ever launch share in under 50s (29.3%) on 10 since it launched in 2019.
“From the picturesque cliffs of Santorini, to the markets of Marrakech, and the tropical waters of Caye Caulker, this season, our diverse group of racers will take on the biggest, craziest and toughest challenges yet.
“Tonight, we introduce you to the next 10 teams, in what is a world first for the franchise. And just wait until the two sets of teams meet in episode three and realise their competition just doubled! Unmissable!”
In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 22 August, Seven News was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 1.549 million viewers, including 37,000 on BVOD, and uplift of 3%. The biggest uplift of the week was an episode of 9-1-1 Lonestar on Nine with an uplift of 38% and aired to a total audience of 392,000.
Looking back at Monday’s ratings, The Block on Nine topped entertainment, airing to a metro audience of 789,000, followed by Have You Been Paying Attention? on Ten which was watched by 565,000 metro viewers.
Back Roads on ABC was watched by 538,000 metro viewers, followed by The Chase Australia on Seven, which brought in 521,000 metro viewers.
My Kitchen Rules on Seven had an average metro audience of 484,000, while Home and Away aired to 475,000 metro viewers.
Meanwhile, Seven News at 6:30 was the #1 metro program on Monday with 955,000 metro viewers followed by Seven News with 949,000 metro viewers, while Nine News brought in 880,000 metro viewers. Nine News at 6:30 pulled in 871,000 viewers.
ABC News brought in 650,000, and ABC’s 7:30 pulled in 527,000 viewers.
As mentioned, Nine won the night, taking an overall network share of 28.7% over Seven’s 26.1%, while Ten took a 20% share and the ABC had 17.8%.
Nine also won the primary channel share, and the top-rating multi-channel on Monday was 7TWO with a share of 3.3%.
