Ashes wins biggest ever audience for Gem
Nine’s HD channel Gem broke multichannel records last night as the second night of The Ashes test pulled in a 15 per cent share of the free to air TV audience.
Gem’s average 665,000 metro viewers for the day’s first session of The Ashes Test made it one of the top-rated shows of the night, while the second session from 10pm delivered 467,000 viewers for Gem and the Nine network, OzTAM’s preliminary overnight metro ratings show.
Coverage on subscription channel Fox Sports 2 had 401,000 and 298,000 metro viewers.
During the game, Australia’s Ashton Agar reached the highest ever score by a number 11 in Test match history.
GEM in fact out rated TEN, ONE, and Eleven combined.
