The Block beats out all the bad news to win Sunday

The Block was the most-watched program on TV last night, a rare example of an entertainment show drawing more viewers than any of the evening news broadcasts. Perhaps, after the past week, viewers just wanted to tune into some less-serious destruction.

The Block’s domination, coupled with the perennial favourite 60 Minutes, helped Nine romp to a 37.4% market share for the evening, well ahead of closest rival Seven, who pulled 25.6% of the audience.

Death In Paradise, The Newsreader, and the Insiders Voice Referendum Special saw ABC capture an impressive 16.9%, while the Sunday Project rated well for Ten.
